FAQ
Stepper Motors:
How many steps will my motor take to fully rotate?
A stepper motor has small gear heads that rotate a central motor shaft. This shaft rotates at a specific rate. In the case of a 28BYJ-48 stepper motor, the gear ratio is 64:1 (64 motor shaft revolutions to 1 revolution) and it takes 32 steps to rotate the motor shaft. So, to fully rotate the motor:
32 steps/revolution x 64 revolutions = 2048 steps
For any stepper motor, simply multiply the gear ratio by the number of steps required to revolve the motor shaft.
